Project Description

St Martin In The Fields Church is located in Finham, Coventry, and is a local family Church, where all ages are welcome to worship and use the community facilities.  The Centre is extremely busy, and currently services the local community through a number of activities, including Youth Groups, Senior Citizen Clubs and theatre performances.

Our Office is pleased to have worked for the Church for over ten years.  During this time, we have served the Church with Quinquennial Inspections, design feasibility work, and project management of construction projects.

Our most recent commission for the Church has included a refurbish project, focussed largely on the existing Community Hall buildings.

These works included; re-roofing the existing barrel-vaulted roof, including new insulation across the roof area, redecoration of the external walls, and replacing the existing metal framed windows with energy efficient double-glazed uPVC windows.

Ground levels for the rear external exits were also re-grading, to enable ramped egress, in the case of emergencies.

Part of the works were grant funded by WREN, the local not-for-profit business that helps benefit the lives of people who live close to landfill sites by awarding grants for community, conservation and heritage projects.

After the works were completed, the Church noted a significant reduction in their consumption of gas for their heating system.  They recorded the use of 693units during August to November 2013, and 396 units in the same period in 2014.  This shows a potential saving on their heating bill of circa 40%.

The works were almost entirely completed whilst the rooms were in use, an excellent testament to the attitude of the Church and their user groups, and to the Contractors and their teams, for being understanding throughout.

Client Testimonial

We have been pleased to work with Vagdia and Holmes who have provided us with consultancy services for many years on various projects, associated with our church premises. These have included project management for major building works as well as advice on repair and maintenance issues. We have been impressed with their willingness to be involved in all stages of a project from initial specification of works through contractor selection, grant applications and management of the project. We look forward to continuing to work with Vagdia and Holmes and have no hesitation in recommending their skilled, helpful and friendly approach to projects large and small.
