We understand the first approach to conservation should include English Heritage's four aims; understanding, value, caring and enjoying our historic environment. We are also committed however, to understanding and applying the guidelines offered by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) who work for the conservation and protection of cultural heritage places.
Our Practice also believe that it is important for any historic building of note to have a Statement of Significance. This Statement helps to identify the overall understanding of the building, the impact of any change, the strength of need and clarity of thought, and ultimately to ensure that any proposal for change has considered the alternatives.
We can help you develop this Statement, and work with you and your buildings through the changes. Our Practice has completed the RIBA Conservation Course, and is now accredited on the RIBA Conservation Register. We are also applying for accreditation to the Register of Architects Accredited In Building Conservation; both of which will underpin our history and legacy of working for over forty years with the historic built environment.
In the meantime, we have the appropriate partnerships in place to service the needs of our Clients, if projects are funded by grant monies.
We are members of the Ecclesiastical Architects' and Surveyors' Association, and are currently developing our knowledge further through the Building Conservation Accreditation ICOMOS Guidelines.
