KPMG Midlands to speak to FORCE
Vagdia and Holmes, Chartered Architects, are pleased to have helped FORCE secure a guest speaker from Birmingham Accounting Practice KPMG.
Mike Froom, KPMG Midlands Head of Infrastructure Building and Construction will be speaking to FORCE Members and guests at this month's FORCE Breakfast Meeting in Coventry.
Held at the Simulation Centre on Coventry University's Innovation Village, Mr Froom will talk to the audience about KPMG's predicted upturn in construction activity, and will present the opportunities for the Infrastructure, Building and Construction sector, including some of the challenges that lie ahead.
The recent Markit/CIPS construction PMI rose to 64.6 in January from December's reading of 62.1, the sharpest expansion in UK construction activity since August 2007. This is of particularly significance when the industry generally contribute's nearly 8% toward the country's GDP. The industry is therefore, of course, hopeful of a significant upturn.
Director Dhiran Vagdia said;
Low profit margins and cut-price tendering continue to restrain our industry, and this is not sustainable. We need to return to a balanced industry, where construction businesses are delivering sevcies and buildings at fair rates, with appropriate payment terms, on projects based on business cases that are commercially viable in all respects.
Anyone wishing to attend the FORCE Breakfast Event is invited to reserve a place via www.force.uk.net.
